BEIJING, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Chengdu Rongcheng staged a dramatic late comeback to defeat Shanghai Shenhua in the ninth round of the Chinese Super League, while Chongqing Tonglianglong suffered its first loss of the season.
League leader Chengdu produced a stunning 3-2 comeback victory over Shanghai on Friday in the round's marquee clash.
The match kicked off at Shanghai Stadium in front of 61,815 fans, setting a new home attendance record for Shanghai. The hosts led 2-0 at halftime, with Chen Jinyi opening the scoring in the 16th minute and Makhtar Gueye doubling the lead in the 38th.
Chengdu turned the game around in the second half. Felipe netted a bicycle kick just one minute after the restart and equalized in the 92nd minute.
Wellington Silva then struck in the 96th minute of stoppage time to complete the comeback and seal the win. The victory extended Chengdu's winning streak to eight matches, keeping them top of the table with 25 points.
Also on Friday, newly promoted Chongqing Tonglianglong suffered its first defeat of the campaign, losing 1-0 to Dalian Yingbo.
Luo Jing scored the only goal in the 46th minute at Dalian Suoyuwan Football Stadium, where a crowd of 62,339 set a new club home attendance record.
Dalian climbed to third place on 18 points, level with second-placed Chongqing but behind on goal difference.
In other matches, Henan FC beat Liaoning Tieren 4-0 to end a six-match winless run. Yunnan Yukun drew 3-3 with Beijing Guoan, while Tianjin Jinmen Tiger tied 2-2 with Wuhan Three Towns. ■
